Linguini? Alfredo? what the hell?!

Dear, lovely American friends,
on average, you are adorable, but sometimes I wonder how can you be so delusional?
So please brace yourself for this truth:
No such thing as Linguini Alfredo, or Fettuccine Alfredo exists in Italy.
In addition, Linguini's real name is Linguine

How comes that in 2017 the NYT still reports this kind of recipes and tags them as Italian?

Having taken this off chest, let's move on

after a wedding in the south, a few days of good old style work related stress managed to make me drop 4lbs in two days.
of course now I'll head out for celebratory drinks, effectively fucking all the small progress done so far.

I thought it was invented by a famous chef in Rome but then it kind of gained popularity in the Italian district of NY. PS I am not an American, just thought I'd throw that in there.

And alos, pepperoni? that's not Italian! we have peperoni (and that is bell peppers!)

That is weird. Pepperoni has just become a word for salami/sausage on pizza? No idea on that. Ha!

But i have a new one for you. Not American. In Australia we have Pasta Marinara - which is seafood and tomato sauce. As i understand it, marinara in italy is just a tomato based sauce, yes?

yes and no. Marinara is usually tomato sauce and anchovies (optional: capers). But it's a pizza, not usually referred to Marinara for pasta (we would call it Pasta with tomatoes, anchovies and basil).
The pasta you refer to is Pasta ai frutti di mare.
